This is a blog for my traditional quilts. I have way too much stash and want to bust some this year.

Sunflower Hill

I worked on this quilt most of the spring and summer, when I wasn't nursing my hand or out enjoying the weather. It is large, 95x95" and fits perfectly on my queen sized bed. I love the results.   Of course Maggie thinks it was made just for her.
Wishing all my Canadian friends a Happy Thanksgiving, we have had the most gorgeous Fall weather!

Animals and quilts

What is it about animals and quilts. Our cat Maggie is always bothering me while I try to sew, loves to be around the fabric. This picture was just too cute not to post.  Caption: "What? My mom made this just for me"
Enjoy.

Mile 0 Quilt Show

Our guild held their annual quilt show on Sunday. I was honored to received 1st place Viewers Choice for my hand applique quilt. It took three years and five hand surgeries to complete this quilt. I used my mid arm to quilt around the applique.  Here's a small sample of the machine quilting.

Chemo Quilt

I have another finish.  I started this at our day of chemo quilting. Using my scraps, they were cut 1 1/2 to 2 " wide, what a lot of sewing, but the end result was worth it.
Great way to use up scraps. I tried to use one red strip in each block...just about managed it.
Now onto more quilting. I've got three ready to load...quilt show is April 11th and I'm working my butt off right now.

I have a finish

So many quilt tops so little time. I do have a finish though. I started this one at our quilting day at Rotary Manor, the seniors home here.  It is all finished, and will be taken to the manor for one of the residents beds.  I really goofed on the color value, my brown did not work at all!  Oh well I'm sure some senior will find it nice and snuggly.
I have included a picture of the quilting. I have a Mega Quilter and have so much to learn about quilting on it.  Also a picture of Maggie, she helped me put the binding on :) She is almost to big to squeeze through but she makes it.
Enjoy,

BQ chemo quilt

I love this pattern, it is such a great way to use up all those floral fabrics that I purchased when I first started quilting.  I quilted it on my mid arm, a huge learning curve but I am learning.
This one was delivered to the Chemo Unit at our local hopital.
Tomorrow we are meeting at the Guild to have a chemo quilting day. I finally sorted out my huge box of strips, and will be making a strippy quilt.  Food, Fun, Fabric and Friends, can't get any better.

UFO Hand applique

I dug out another UFO, must have taken me  two years to do all the hand applique.  This is my first attemp at hand applique. It is a BOM pattern offered to The Quilt Show by Susan Garman.
What a surprise when I got it up on the design wall. I've started to put the sashing and cornerstone blocks around the main blocks.  Will continue to work on it and will show a pic when it is finished.

I just finished this quilt for my brother in law, who is very ill right now. Delivered it and he was thrilled.
It is a disappearing nine patch, I used two shades of gold and two shades of green.
